Welcome to the Southend-on-Sea Branch of the BCSS

Are you interested in cacti and succulents? We are a friendly bunch of people, and we’d love to welcome you at one of our meetings, where members are happy to share their growing experiences and answer your questions.

Southend-on-Sea held its inaugural meeting on 8 October 1966 in a scout’s hut, so our current venue at Saxon Hall is quite a bit more luxurious! See our contact us page for more information on how to find us.

Our meetings are held on the first Friday of the month (unless indicated otherwise), and usually include an illustrated talk. There is a small entrance fee of £1.50 to help cover our room hire, which entitles you to a raffle ticket to win a cactus and a cup of tea/coffee. We have a great programme lined up with speakers on a wide range of topics. Please see our events page for full details.

Our very popular garden meeting, in August, is a lovely social event, with a plant auction, refreshments, and a chance to view one of our more experienced member’s collection.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
